In this exciting role, you will carry out various types of molecular biology experiments as part of several projects aimed at understanding how mammalian gene expression is regulated. You will clone elements to be tested in the mouse transgenic pipeline and provide support including but not limited to small animal surgery, hormone injections, egg collection, and general animal husbandry.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform various molecular biology techniques such as PCR, vector ligation, bacterial transformation, small and large-scale plasmid preps, restriction enzyme digest, and gel electrophoresis.
  • Design and carry out experiments.
  • Provide support to the transgenic mouse facility, including but not limited to small animal surgery and animal microsection.
  • Provide in-depth analysis on experimental results, generate reports, present findings, and provide recommendations.
  • Maintain careful records of all experiments performed.
  • Participate in monthly Division Safety Committee meetings and report communications to the lab group.
  • Maintain chemical waste area and coordinate pick up.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor and other team members to discuss project progress and provide recommendations to improve the experimental pipeline.

  • Willingness to work with mice in a lab environment.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to multitask, understand operating procedures, and learn new experimentation techniques.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and related software programs (i.e., PC, Mac, Google Apps, etc)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including experience documenting research results, maintaining accurate laboratory records, and managing data.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work within a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment.
What We Prefer:
