Description
The Performance Apparel Business Leader has P&L accountability for the business and is responsible for identifying, evaluating and managing strategies which ensure profitable and sustainable growth, including optimization of new product development pipelines, commercial alliances, supply chain optimization and partnering with manufacturing stakeholders to ensure achievement of business objectives. The position is ideal for a candidate who has a bias for action, is comfortable in a highly ambiguous environment and who has a demonstrated ability to turn objective and subjective data into profitable business actions.
The position will be based in Brecksville, Ohio and reports to the Senior Director of New Businesses with a strong dotted line to the Vice President and General Manager of Engineered Polymers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drives revenue, optimizes spend and ensures continued profitable growth of the performance apparel business.
- Identifies, scopes and manages multiple strategic projects relative to new business development for the Performance Apparel business, ensuring strategies incorporate broader strategic/organizational considerations.
- Develops and maintains a view of market dynamics in the industry, including ongoing evaluation of opportunities to create new value.
- Influences and gains acceptance of leaders inside and external to Lubrizol through effective communication, relevant and insightful analyses, and creative thinking.
- Leads, manages and coaches the Global Performance Apparel organization – creates a vision, sets goals, and defines a strategy for achieving established goals and continuously improves the team’s talent position. Ensures engagement and alignment of both direct and indirect reports.
- Facilitates business problem solving through establishing strategic context, developing structured hypotheses, performing detailed analyses, synthesizing insights, and aligning to execution plans, leading to recommendations to senior management.
- Develops economic models to evaluate new business initiatives or in support of understanding the size, growth, and evolution of markets in which we do business, doing so with imperfect data.
- Responsible for channel strategies and works with our regional business managers to manage partnerships, direct sales, and sales agents to deliver business growth.
- Provides input and recommendations on strategic business issues.
- 8+ years of business leadership experience working across large, cross-functional teams.
- 3+ years in a role with direct responsibility and accountability for business profitability, with demonstrated ability to evaluate and execute opportunities which improve business results.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Business leadership experience in a global organization
- Direct experience with consumer markets, preferably apparel
- Experience in demand creation with OEMs/Brands
- Knowledge or experience in textiles and/or fibers
- Background/experience in sustainability
- Direct people leadership experience
- Experience leading marketing research and/or competitive analysis
- Experience developing pricing and cost models
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive decision making on decisions with significant impact to bottom line
